Description

The Applications Scientist for Rigaku Semiconductor Metrology Division will work with customers to inspect advanced packaging in wafer, singulated components, or panel in a high-volume production environment. They would be responsible for installing and qualifying the beta-tool (eval tool) and new tools in the customer's factory, for creating / managing / modifying recipes on the tool, and for troubleshooting issues with the tool and data quality. The Scientist is the primary contact on-site and must be able to communicate clearly with the customers and communicate/coordinate with Rigaku teams in the US and Japan on hardware and software.

The Scientist is further responsible for collecting users' story/work flow, customers' need, definition of AXI tools, and finding potentially new applications of Rigaku AXI technology. They will communicate the application and requirements to Rigaku US and Japan Teams and execute experiments to demonstrate feasibility and analyzing the experimental data.


Qualifications

At a minimum, Applications Scientist would meet all the following requirements:



  • M.S. in science or engineering. For example, chemistry, physics, material science, chemical engineering, or electrical engineering.
  • >4 years of work experience, >2 years with a Ph.D.
  • Experience working with complex capital equipment in a production factory
  • Ability to travel for >20% of time


The ideal Applications Scientist would meet one or more of the following requirements:



  • Ph.D. in science or engineering
  • >6 years of work experience with a M.S., >3 years with a Ph.D.
  • Experience with metrology equipment in the semiconductor industry
  • Experience in semiconductor packaging / BEOL
  • Experience or background in x-ray technology
  • Experience in statistics, data analysis, curve fitting, machine learning, etc.
  • Basic programming or scripting skills; e.g., Python, Matlab, VBA
