Job Description

Title: Injection Machine Operator II

Reports: Production Supervisor / Injection Lead

SUMMARY

Performs repetitive production and packing operations to mass process products such as plastic bottles. Assist the Injection lead and Production Specialist in day to day floor activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the start-up and shut-down of Injection molding machinery and associated support equipment. Completes color and other additive changes. Sorts suspect product using flat conveyor belt and off-line sorting machinery. Assists in applying 5S standards in the Injection department. Maintains housekeeping of work areas with emphasis on deep cleaning and painting of Injection molding machinery. Monitors flow of product into processing machinery. Works at different workstations as production needs require to cover open positions due to vacation, leaves, etc. Works on lines where tasks vary, as product of various shapes and sizes move along lines. Check finished product for possible defects. Wears all required personal protective equipment. Assures and participates in all plant safety/accident prevention policies. This includes maintaining a safe work environment and follows safe work practices. Follow all HACCP, GMP and Product Safety rules and guidelines. Train current and new members of the department to perform job related tasks as needed with emphasis on machine start up and shut down. Learn new on the job skills as training opportunities become available. Any other tasks that may be assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be able to start up and shut down all Injection machinery and supporting equipment. Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree; or at least one year manufacturing related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.

Language Skills

Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While the employee is performing the duties of this position that employee must be able to manipulate product with both hands, both above and below shoulder height. The employee must be able to stand on a solid surface for a minimum of twelve (12) hours. The employee must be able to ascend and descend stairs and ladders. The employee must be able to frequently lift and /or move up to fifty (50) pounds. The employee must be able to demonstrate repetitive motion with a pallet jack and push/pull up to seven hundred (700) pounds throughout the day (12 hour shift). Specific vision abilities required by this position include close visual inspection of product. The employee must be to perform job functions in temperatures of one hundred plus degrees during summer season and fifty degrees during winter season.
