Must have basic proficiency of English language to comply with verbal and written directions, signs, policies and procedures. This position is for 1st shift; Sunday-Wednesday 5:30am-4:00pm. A Mechanic B role is responsible for keeping machines and tools in good working conditions to enhance efficiency and prevent malfunctions that could lead to costly repairs. The associate, as a full functioning technician, performs the complete range of maintenance, repair, and service activities. They are responsible for adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) that are in effect assuring the quality and quantity of the product. Basic ability to read, write and speak English is required to comply with verbal directions, signs, policies and procedures. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates general understandings of industrial safety practices and regulations such as: LOTO procedures, fall protection, personal protective equipment, and all other mandatory safety procedures related to the job.
- Uses Root Cause Analysis to investigate operational errors and recommends corrective action where needed for a positive result.
- Coaches and motivates associates to identify and resolve safety related issues.
- Develops One Point Lesson (OPL) and Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) as needed.
- Coaches others on the operation of machine and auxiliary equipment.
- Cleans and lubricates machinery, performs basic diagnostic tests, checks machine performance, and tests damaged machine parts to determine whether machine repairs are necessary.
- Performs effective and efficient equipment changeover.
- Performs preventive maintenance repairs and/or emergency repairs to production equipment.
- As the experienced level Mechanic, they are responsible for:
- Electrical:
- Construct and fabricate parts using power or hand tools and specifications.
- Review specifications to plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment or fixtures.
- Test all assemblies, installations, or repairs on electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures.
- Assemble and install electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and tools, to locate the cause of a problem.
- Electronics:
- Responsible for troubleshooting Control Cabinet
- Replace P.C. Boards, relays and input-output modules, VFDs and PIDs
- Install and troubleshoot different indicators: voltmeters, tachometers, totalizers, counters, timers and other
- Able to work and adjust transducers and indicators (4-20 ma).
- Mechanical:
- Advanced troubleshooting technique used to diagnose the root of the problem and inspect, repair, and test machinery.
- When not engaged in active repair operations, the associate is expected to assist in or perform high-level technical inspections of industrial machinery within the facility and document their activities.
- Modifies and/or replaces parts on all production and facility equipment as needed; also calculates the speed ration.
- Pneumatic/Hydraulic:
- Maintains replaces and repairs all pneumatic/Hydraulic equipment and troubleshoot complex pneumatic system issues.
- Plant Systems:
- Monitor and Maintain Boilers, Air compressors, air conditioning, dust collectors, and other plant utility systems. Identify energy loss and correct issues.
- Additional Trades:
- Some additional trade skills such as welding, carpentry, plumbing etc. could be needed at this level.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area and maintenance shop.
- Adheres to all SOPs, cGMPs, safety requirements and procedures.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
- Technical diploma preferred.
- Physical ability to lift, stand, climb, bend.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work environment may be exposed to powders, chemicals, and allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, dairy, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, fish, and shellfish).
EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of professional maintenance experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment required.
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience required.
- Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) preferred.
SKILLS:
- Strong computer skills, including strong CMMS knowledge.
- Must be able to read blueprints, shop drawings, and generate rough sketches as needed.
- Advanced mathematical skills.
- Advanced reading and writing skills.
- Must be detailed oriented.
- High level of organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to multi-task and follow-up when responses are needed.
- Must be mechanically inclined and can use all standard tools of trade including: hand tools, power tools, and machine shop tools
- Ability to use electrical tools such as an oscilloscope and/or electrical test meter.
- Ability to operate machinery such as lathes, mills, drill presses, and welding machines preferred.
