Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers University invites outstanding candidates to join the Department of Pharmacology as tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor. Successful candidates will join a group of supportive colleagues who trained in a variety of disciplines and conduct research in multiple areas that impact the field of pharmacology: cell signaling and growth control, gene expression, 'omics approaches to cancer and age-related disease, host-pathogen interactions, ion channel pharmacology, metabolic and liver disease, cancer and translational pharmacology, therapeutic target development, and drug discovery. We value innovation, curiosity and collegiality, and seek candidates who aim to address impactful questions in fundamental and/or translational science that complement and diversify existing strengths in the department. We welcome candidates from any discipline.
The research laboratories and office space for these faculty positions will be housed within medical school research facilities on the Piscataway (Busch) campus of RBHS and Rutgers. Successful candidates will be provided with a competitive start up package, laboratory space, access to high-performance computing clusters and other core resources, and will be expected to develop and maintain a strong, externally funded research program and participate in collaborative projects with other Departments and Institutes at Rutgers. Major duties and responsibilities include developing a robust, externally funded research program to conduct studies in fields related to human health, development and disease, and to support the educational goals and activities of Rutgers University through teaching and service, including participation in the teaching of professional, graduate and undergraduate students, and mentorship of trainees. The successful candidates will gradually assume teaching responsibilities commensurate with the teaching load of other tenure-track faculty in the departments.
Research programs utilizing interdisciplinary and translational approaches that develop interactions with the Departments of Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, or Neurology, the Rutgers Institute for Translational Medicine and Science, the Rutgers Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine, the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, and other clinical departments within RBHS are encouraged.
