Primary Purpose of this Job

The primary purpose of this job is to oversee a portfolio of strategic customers with the objective of growing ATI's additive manufacturing products business in aerospace, space, and defense industries by supporting a highly complex technical sales process. An ideal candidate will actively develop strong relationships with key OEMs to quote and land very complex projects. Once you land the order you will be responsible for defining and implementing capabilities to support the customer with the broader additive team.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned)



  • Execute strategic initiatives by landing orders with targeted OEM customers in key markets.
  • Write complex metal additive quotation proposals and negotiate to obtain orders.
  • Prioritize, direct, and track progress of New Part Development Projects and Customer initiated changes, and resolution of holds required to release jobs. Keep development projects flowing throughout the manufacturing process.
  • A successful candidate for this role is a critical thinker, strategist, able to match customer requirements to ATI's current and planned future AM and post-processing capabilities.
  • Assist in development of the 5 year strategic plan and annual forecasts along with actions to achieve these objectives.
  • Maintaining AM part pricing tool, setting pricing for key higher volume customer opportunities
  • Interface closely with the Engineering Design, Technical, Production Planning, and Operations teams to support an environment of mutual trust, respect, and high ethical standards.
  • Support commercial team with technical prowess to win customers.
  • Assist in developing forecast and supply chain management of key material inputs like additive metal powders.
  • Learn technical details of various additive manufacturing technologies, materials, applications, and continuously learn about the latest technology advancements, to serve as a subject matter expert for ATI.
  • Lead the justification and implementation of new technologies as the business cases support them.
  • Represent both commercial and technical at key AM industry events like AMUG, RAPID, Formnext.
  • Ensure overall customer satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications



  • Bachelors degree in engineering, business, or technical related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in additive sales, applications engineering, or related technical experience


Essential Skills



  • Knowledge of:

    • Sales techniques
    • Metal additive machines and technologies
    • Metal powder alloys and how they are used in additive processes
    • Non-destructive testing
    • Heat treating
    • Machining operations and techniques
    • Understanding of engineering concepts
    • Marketing fundamentals, as developed through Sales experience


  • Skilled in:

    • Strong human relations, written, and oral communication skills
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills
    • Strong analytical skills to analyze and resolve difficult problems effectively and implement long term solutions
    • Highly self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects, assignments, and competing priorities with minimal supervision
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications


  • Ability to:


    • Travel could be up to 50% at times. Travel is required to meet that month's business needs. Some months could be more and some less.
    • Lift 50lbs walking for 20ft
