What you'll do
As the Materials Planner for Utilimaster (A Shyft Group Brand) based at our facility in Landisville, PA, you will be accountable for issuing and maintaining work orders and packets for the production floor. You will also monitor schedules, control inventory levels, and use established procedures to maintain optimal flow from Fab to production.
You will also:
- Manage assigned parts and suppliers, including all problem resolutions
- Coordinate engineering changes and build schedules with suppliers and production
- Examine MRP on a daily and weekly basis to produce supplier releases
- Launch, schedule, defer, expedite, and cancel POs to maintain inventory levels
- Monitor and update supplier lead times for system accuracy
- Proactively confirm delivery and schedules against purchase orders and adjust when necessary
- Obtain realistic delivery dates on shortages and follow up promptly
- Validate and verify the root cause for incomplete work orders
- Proactively identify material shortages and implement appropriate actions internally
- Mitigate the risk of disrupting production by identifying parts shortages in advance
- Optimize inventory accuracy with VMI, Kanban cards, or Min/Max systems
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Operations, Finance, and the vendor(s) to identify and implement the appropriate inventory levels, order requirements and quantities, and delivery offsets
- Initiate and implement improvements to ensure optimal material flow from Fab to production

What you need to be successful
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or business, or equivalent materials planning experience in a manufacturing setting
- 3+ years of material planning expertise in a manufacturing setting
- A track record of constructing and guiding cross-functional teams
- A reputation for being versatile, flexible, and attentive to detail within constantly changing priorities
- A history of effectively handling multiple projects and delivering on time
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
