POSITION OVERVIEW The Project Engineer is responsible for the overall design and execution of both large- and small-scale capital projects at Encapsys. The incumbent develops the capital appropriation request (CAR) and all support documentation to provide accurate information on Cost, Schedule, Safety, Risk, and Resource requirements. The Project Engineer works directly with R&D, Safety HSE, and Process Design teams and external resources to design and scale-up processes for development and commercialization initiatives. The incumbent must be able to travel to various production facilities, as may be required by project work. These will typically be in Wisconsin but may be out-of-state and internationally. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Completion of capital projects within established timeline, budget, performance and safety metrics.
- Utilization of internal and external resources where appropriate to develop innovative, cost effective solutions and to implement best practices.
- Effective communications with internal and external customers when preparing and executing capital projects to ensure customer needs are met.
- Ensure project execution process uses the appropriate tools to ensure successful project execution.
- Prepare general arrangement and equipment layout drawings, PFDs, P&IDs, etc., to ensure design and safety criteria are met for all end users.
- Prepare written capital project requests with clearly defined scope, schedule, resources and justification.
- Execute capital projects to meet clearly developed success criteria.
- Develop and implement execution strategies that include complete scope, contracting strategies, technical requirements, deliverables, schedules, resource requirements, risk and project milestones.
- Work closely with Milliken Corporate Sourcing team to prepare contract strategies, bid packages, etc. for potential contractors
- Track project spend against plan and maintain tracking sheet
- Communicate project status, change management, risk and countermeasures verbally, via written documentation, or formal presentations.
- Complete project closeout activities at conclusion of projects.
- Work closely with process design team to support scale-up efforts and exploration of next generation technologies.
- Work with internal and external customers to define user and functional specification requirements (includes maintenance requirements, spares and routines are defined).
- Work with external service and equipment suppliers to design and develop systems and equipment solutions for commercial implementation.
- Identify and implement safety improvements for new and existing equipment designs.
- Participate in capital planning and update meetings.
- Ability to travel internationally (Europe/Asia/other) to support potential capital expansions.

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in capital project management and execution with application in a manufacturing environment required.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, written and presentation skills.
- Ability to prioritize dynamic workload and allocate resources accordingly and possess an understanding of business analytics and ability to multi-task.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project required.
- Strong team orientation and collaborative skills with operations team and external contractors
- General understanding/experience in chemical engineering and/or electrical engineering a plus
- Capable of working in a flexible, often shifting environment.
- Ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors, contractors and operators.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully execute multiple projects concurrently.
- Understanding of manufacturing environments, processes and procedures required.
- Kaizen focused with demonstrated ability to energize and empower others toward continuous improvement.
- Experience in interfacing with customers, upper management, process engineers, and research associates.
- Assess and make recommendations for improvements in areas of safety, cost and performance.
- Experience in chemical and/or pharma processing facilities a plus.
