FIRE SYSTEMS PROTECTION - PINELAND LUMBER
Georgia-Pacific is now hiring for a Fire Systems Protection worker at our lumber mill in Pineland, Texas. Compensation: To commensurate with experience. The Fire Systems Protection role will operate as a function of maintenance working in conjunction with the Fire Protection Technician. What You Will Do in Your Role: * Fire pump house operations; including testing and operation of pumps. * Become familiar with the NFPA standards and GP's Risk Management Standards and Procedures. around fire protection industry. * Perform all fire system inspections, which include daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual inspections. These include Pump house inspections, PIV valve inspections, Valve House inspections, alarm bell inspections, fire extinguisher inspections, rolling stock suppression system inspections, hose station inspections, hose house inspections, PIV Spring test inspections, MCC room fire alarm inspections, 2" main drain inspections, and fire hydrant flushing inspections. * Perform weekly, monthly, and quarterly PyroGuard inspections. * Perform maintenance work on fire protection systems as needed, including overhead and underground piping, and valve houses. * Maintain required inspection records. * Become a member of the Emergency Response Team. * Site point of contact with Excel GAP Inspector. * Direct the work of subcontractors. * Work with the local fire department. * Perform maintenance tasks on the potable water system and process water system as needed Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * Previous experience in an industrial, manufacturing, production, warehouse, farming, or military environment. What Will Put You Ahead * Previous experience in a Fire Protection or related role. * A degree in fire science or related field. * CFPS certified. Other Considerations: * Available to work on-call daily for fire system-related problems. * Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed). * Provide support to management and employees. * Actively participate in the Safety program to improve processes as well as adhere to safety rules and regulations including the wearing of proper PPE. * Participate in clean-up duties to ensure a clean and safe environment. * Flexibility to flow to the work as needed (Utility, Firewatch, Clean-up, etc.). * Work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment. * Perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling.
