Position Overview


Primary Purpose of Position
The University is on a journey to become a Research 1 (R1) institution. The faculty member will be responsible for continuously publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed journals while developing and delivering high-quality course content in business analytics, information systems, and information technology at the undergraduate and MBA levels both on campus and online. In addition to carrying out impactful teaching and research, faculty member is expected to actively engage in service to the department, college, university, community, and profession. Faculty member is expected to engage with external partners and support grant and external funding opportunities,

This is a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position. The faculty member will be responsible for developing and delivering course content in business analytics, information systems, and information technology. The faculty member should have experience teaching first-generation and diverse students. Industry/professional experiences and certifications are desirable.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
N.C. A&T is a public, land-grant, doctoral research institution and has been the largest historically Black university in the country for the past decade. With an enrollment of 14,311 students in Fall 2024, the university offers 59 undergraduate degree programs, 36 master's programs, and 12 doctoral programs. It is America's top producer of Black graduates in Engineering and Agricultural Science bachelor's programs, as well as a top five producer in numerous additional disciplines, including Liberal Arts and Communications/Journalism. It also ranks no. 3 in master's degrees awarded to Black graduates in Engineering Technologies and Related Fields, no. 4 in master's degrees in Engineering, and no. 11 best business school for women in the nation.

Nationally recognized for its leadership and excellence in STEM education and research, N.C. A&T is classified as "R2-High Research Activity" in the Carnegie Classifications and is poised to achieve "R1-Very High Research Activity" status. It also holds Carnegie's earned credential in Community Engagement and the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities ( APLU) Innovation and Economic Prosperity designation. With an annual economic impact of $2.4 billion, N.C. A&T plays a vital role as a higher-education economic driver in North Carolina's Piedmont Triad region and across a state that is ranked No. 1 in the nation for the second straight year as "best for business" by the CNBC financial network.

The College of Business and Economics has a faculty of over 75 (65 tenured and tenure-track) teach in the Departments of Accounting and Finance, Business Information Systems and Analytics, Economics, Management, and Marketing and Supply Chain Management. Faculty are tasked with providing quality teaching and learning supported by relevant research and service. The student body consists of approximately 1,950 undergraduate and graduate students. Undergraduate degrees are awarded in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Business Information Technology, Economics, Finance, Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Sales, and Supply Chain Management. The graduate degrees offered are the MBA and Master of Accountancy degrees.

The Department of Business Information Systems and Analytics is one of five academic departments in the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University, located in Greensboro, NC. North Carolina A&T State University is an 1890 land grant
doctoral high research activity university that prepares students to advance the human condition and facilitate economic growth in North Carolina and beyond by providing a preeminent and diverse educational experience through teaching, research, and scholarly application of knowledge.

The Department of Business Information Systems and Analytics ( BISA) currently offers three degrees: BS in Business Information Technology (online and face-to-face), BS in Management Information Systems, and a BS In Business Analytics (face-to-face and approved for online). All three degrees are AACSB-accredited programs. The BISA department currently has ten full-time faculty, all of whom hold terminal degrees, and four part-time faculty.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Business/Data Analytics, Decision Sciences, Information Systems, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline from an AACSB-accredited institution at the time of appointment.

Candidates should demonstrate the potential to establish a research record through publications in refereed journals, national and international conferences, book chapters, and other scholarly activities.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
A strong foundation in business applications is preferred. Special consideration will be given to candidates with teaching and professional experience in the business/data analytics area. Experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in Analytics and Information Systems/Technology is preferred.

Industry experience and professional certifications in the areas of Analytics and Information Systems/Technology are preferred.
