Country View Family Farms is seeking a motivated Assistant Sow Farm Manager to oversee production and lead employees at our progressive sow unit in Modoc & Ridgeville, Indiana. This hands-on role involves leading a team to manage operations, prioritize biosecurity, and ensure excellent animal care. Our operation features electronic sow feeding (ESF), open-pen gestation, and antibiotic-free herd management. You will work closely with the Barn Manager, focusing on efficiency, capacity management, and team development. - Lead the team in goal-setting, training, scheduling, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with HR and the Sow Farm Manager on staffing needs and conduct on-site interviews.
- Oversee farm meetings, participate in regional and system-wide meetings, and communicate operational updates.
- Execute animal care plans, monitor budgets, and maintain compliance with biosecurity, safety, and animal welfare policies.
- Assist in setting farm budgets and developing quarterly business plans in partnership with the Sow Service team.
- Lead the team in executing and maintaining compliance of the PLUS PROGRAMS (Prop 12, 4 way cross genetics...).
- Collaborate and communicate with outside resources such as PIC and Gestall.
Qualifications:
- Experience in livestock management (swine management preferred).
- Associate's degree in Animal Sciences, Agribusiness, Livestock Production, or equivalent from a technical school, or five years of relevant experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfort working in barn conditions, including exposure to animal dander, dust, and varying temperatures.
Physical Requirements: This position requires regular movement around the barn, lifting of up to 100 pounds, and work in environments with exposure to loud noises, animal odors, and outdoor conditions.
