Position Summary

Members of MemorialCare's Healthcare Informatics job family use interdisciplinary knowledge, integrating computer, information, clinical, and decision sciences, toward the design, development, adoption, and application of IT-based innovations in healthcare services. Through computer technology, Informatics team members effectively manage data, information, and knowledge, including data storage, retrieval, transformation, and process improvement, to optimize use for problem solving and decision making. They assess current data and information practices, structure, and technology, determine the information-based needs of health care providers and patients, develop solutions using technology, and evaluate the impact of those interventions. The Informatics team uses evidence-based clinical knowledge to help ensure support of clinical objectives and best practice.

The Clinical Informatics Lead is responsible for providing effective overall team integration system design, build, and implementation of application systems. The Clinical Informatics Lead guides interactions with clinical, ancillary, and IT departments throughout the organization. They focus on defining both current state patient care workflows and designing future state workflows with an emphasis on best practices and facilitating transformation efforts using process improvement and project management tools. The Clinical Informatics Lead maintains working knowledge of multiple applications implemented and an understanding of how the functionality and patient care practices across the health care settings can be integrated. They manage and assign work to the Clinical Informatics Lead based on overall priorities. They understand and support the strategic direction of MemorialCare and work closely with other team Leads to ensure assignments are managed timely.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  1. Develop and maintain relationships with vendors for research and development purposes
  2. Develop the team to ensure consistently in performance
  3. Serve as the front-line for people management
  4. Establish communication regularly between staff, management, and stakeholders
  5. Act as initial point of escalation for Clinical Informatics team related issues
  6. Manage day-to-day planning, operations, and problem-solving to assist the team in obtaining its required Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  7. Manage resource planning including allocation and prioritization of workload
  8. Identify opportunities for process, system, and staff improvements
  9. Lead the analysis and review of workflow recommendations and work to support best practice workflows
  10. Assist Clinical Informatics leadership in overall governance of the program, incorporating thoughts and feedback from the Clinical Informatics team
  11. Apply clinical experience to advance end-user efficiency and enhance patient safety outcome
  12. Coach junior Clinical Informatics team members as they develop informatics competencies
  13. Provide functional and technical leadership for the implementation and support of software applications, enhancements, and modifications
  14. Act as a liaison to clinical committees to educate and support existing technological tools and functionalities
  15. Facilitate system implementation projects
  16. Attain a cross-functional knowledge of the EHR system to effectively provide advanced navigation of the system

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:



  • Minimum of 7 years progressive clinical, Information Systems, and successful project management experience required
  • Clinical Informatics experience required
  • Epic application experience required; experienced in working with electronic health information solutions, including electronic health records, practice management solutions and others
  • Has held a previous role formally or informally leading projects or teams in the past. Proven competence in leading large and complex sized projects which can run in parallel; evidence of progress in project management assignments. Experienced in supporting users in maintaining changed processes and participating in post implementation change evaluation.
  • Experience with hospital information systems required; demonstrated abilities in providing advanced information systems and end-user support

  • Demonstrated history of successful Epic build configurations for respective application
  • Proven knowledge of regulatory and accreditation guidelines that impact clinical system design and implementation
  • Proven experience understanding cross functional clinical workflows, maintained knowledge of clinical applications implemented, and an understanding of how the functionality and patient care practices across the health care settings can be integrated.
  • Confirmed experience in the ability to work on several complex issues at the same time in an organized manner. Experienced planning and organizing day-to-day activities, effectively managing more than one task, and meeting established deadlines.
  • Past success working individually, in team situations, as well as facilitating projects while meeting aggressive deadlines successfully
  • Demonstrated use of excellent organizational, communication skills, leadership skills, and interpersonal relations to achieve established goals
  • Proven ability to collect, analyze, and present data at various audience levels
  • Exhibited knowledge, compassion and professionalism to manage stressful situations in a manner that is conducive to finding resolution
  • Proven ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Suite Office Products preferred


Education/Licensure/Certification:



  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required; Master's preferred
  • Licensed healthcare professional
  • Epic Certification in one or more modules (NVT) required when working with Epic as the primary supported system
  • Additional Certifications including PMP and ANCC Nursing Informatics, preferred
