Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
L.G. Cook 4-H Camp looks for positive, energetic problem solvers.

The primary role of all staff is to devote 100% of their attention, care, and creativity to our campers. This includes individual attention to tailor our program to the specific needs of each camper, while simultaneously building a program and environment that is beneficial to the whole 4-H Camp community.

4-H Camp is based on interaction, and all staff must be able to socialize and support our youth aged 8-16, as well as their fellow staff members.

Various skills, depending on role at 4-H Camp, may be required or utilized to run activities throughout our general Summer Camp, as well as to teach classes in our Environmental Education, Creative Arts, Waterfront, Recreation, and Community Course Areas.

Camp days are long, and staff must have the endurance to be able to lead multiple active games and recreational activities and continuously supervise their campers (including during rest and mealtimes) around the clock.

Counselor staff reside in a rustic cabin with the children in their care. Senior Staff and support staff live in similarly rustic staff facilities. Staff should be comfortable sleeping in bunks and using communal restrooms.

Staff are on duty for the entirety of the residential camp session. Time off is given daily, but outside of that scheduled time staff are responsible for the children in their care at all times.

No alcohol or drugs are permitted on site in the summer season. If offered a position, other prohibited materials and behavior expectation will be detailed in the 4-H Camp Code of
Conduct.

Sleep in bunks.
