Production Manager - CHS, Mail Order Pharmacy

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Manager and Pharmacy Manager, follows established policies and procedures to perform a variety of technical and clerical support tasks that are integral to the operation of the pharmacy department. The Production Manager will be responsible for all aspects of Production Area of the Mail Order and Central Fill Pharmacy including; management of staff, dispensing medications, processing prescription orders, updating records and ensuring delivery to patients and on-site locations in a timely manner. The manager will be responsible for working with the logistics and inventory team to ensure that CHS production goals are met on a daily basis. Oversees the work of a team of Pharmacy Technicians and the overall production workflow in the Mail Order and Central Fill production area; develops work schedules and trains pharmacy support staff.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:


  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, weekly and daily schedules; monitor any variation to schedule and report to the manager / assistant manager.
  • Responsible for reporting any disciplinary actions and assisting in the annual review process.
  • Provide a professional and confidential environment for staff and customers at all times.
  • Assist central fill locations and cross-functional team members with their questions, problems and complaints via phone and email.
  • Obtain information for new prescriptions, maintain customer / patient confidentiality
  • Handle all customer relations issues in accordance with BMC policy
  • Retrieve, count and measure drugs
  • Retrieve and file pharmacy prescriptions in the appropriate files
  • Work with the inventory team to maintain inventory levels, identify outdated / recalled merchandise
  • Refer all clinician and customer clinical questions to a Pharmacist
  • Assist the Pharmacist with all third party transactions including the completion of any paperwork
  • Assist in maintaining the overall cleanliness of the Pharmacy area
  • Maintain daily / weekly / monthly reports
  • Performs all department required quality assurance responsibilities.
  • In all activities, complies with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements, including DEMPOS (billing, dispensing and training).
  • Conforms to BMC standards of conduct so that the best possible customer service and patient care may be provided.
  • Maintains all designated BMC information confidential at all times.
  • Supports the service needs of the pharmacist relative to pharmacy services and maximized patient care outcomes.
  • Maintains own professional and specialized competency through continued education and develops competencies as related to position.
  • Adheres to department/program and BMC protocols, including the following:

a) Adapts to changes in the departmental needs including but not limited to: offering assistance to other team members, adjusting assignments, etc.

b) Conforms to BMC standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, so that the best possible customer service

and patient care may be provided.

c) Utilizes BMC's behavioral standards as the basis for decision making and to support the departments and the hospital's mission and goals.

d) Follows established BMC infection control and safety procedures.

  • Performs other duties deemed appropriate by management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Board of Pharmacy.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires 5 or more years related work experience. Retail Pharmacy and / or QS1 experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs):


  • Effective interpersonal skills to interact appropriately with on-site pharmacy team members as well as on-campus central fill staff and all patients.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize essential tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details, including being able to perform basic mathematicalfunctions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios/proportions).
  • Leadership, including the ability to guide, direct, and mentor staff.
  • Proficient with standard software used in healthcare office setting (i.e. MS Word, Excel, web browser, etc.)
  • Must maintain the required level of competency to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
