About the Position The Trades Generalist is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and repair of Maricopa County facilities, including keeping spaces, structures, and infrastructure in proper operating condition in a routine, scheduled, or anticipated fashion to prevent failure or degradation. We Require
Two years of experience involving a variety of repair and maintenance tasks including semi-skilled trades tasks High school diploma or GED Complete a Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) background investigation to access County detention facilities Must possess or can obtain a valid Arizona driver's license and have an acceptable driving record by the time of hire
We Also Value
Three years of experience within a large commercial, industrial, or institutional environment Proficient in Microsoft Office Products and selected software programs, including Maximo
Job Contributions
Facilitate and correct all repairs associated with a specific work order, including routine and/or emergency repairs Respond to assigned service calls in person in all Maricopa County buildings working within the system to finalize work orders Replace air filters, drive belts, ballasts, light bulbs, light switches, wall outlets, and low voltage motors, managing work priorities on-site Operate hand tools and power equipment necessary to perform various building maintenance and repair tasks Perform other trades activities - carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, and mechanical maintenance Operate computers and mobile devices for time management, inventory, work assignments, and other related functions Other job duties as assigned
Working Conditions
Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 - 20 pounds constantly Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties and responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations. Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software, and Hardware
Must be proficient with and capable of using essential hand tools, benders, cordless power tools, and electrical testing equipment, including multimeter, clamp meter, megohmmeter, circuit tracer, etc. Must be capable of working with aerial lifts upon completion of county-provided training. Must be capable of using various forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required to fulfill the requirements of the position

Adult & juvenile detention facilities, medical facilities, both detention and public health, forensics, courts, and related justice facilities
