- Administer, test, and implement computer databases, applying knowledge of DBMS.
- Coordinate changes to computer databases.
- May plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases.
- Participate in the database design and implementation process.
- Develop and test logical and physical database designs.
- Review logical and physical designs of existing databases and perform tuning as the senior database specialist, to ensure maximum operating efficiency.
- Perform data analysis, database design, development activities, and implementation, as directed, for databases and database conversions.
- Perform database-restructuring activities.
- Work with users and information systems development staff to determine data storage and access requirements.
- Provides highly technical expertise and guidance in the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of DBMSs.
- Evaluates and recommends available DBMS products after matching requirements with system capabilities.
- Determines file organization, indexing methods, and security procedures for specific applications.
- Controls the design and use of databases.
- Controls the global view of databases, the access to the databases, assures the safekeeping of the databases (from accidental or intentional damage or loss), and monitors the use of databases.
- Capable of defining all required database administration policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and SOP.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's or associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Math, or related field or at a minimum IT Certification.
- Five (5) years' experience is equivalent to two (2) years of education.
Certification:
- This is an IAT-I Level, or higher IAT- II level certification.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of experience in database administration work, such as Oracle relational database, Ingres relational database, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Two (2) years of experience with Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket or equivalent.
- Five (5) years of performing security remediation to systems with vulnerabilities based on security scans.
- Must be able to obtain a favorable Tier 1 for unclassified systems.
