Senior Designer- Engineering

Dover Precision Components is hiring a Senior Designer- Engineering for our Cook Compression brand, located at our South Houston/Pearland, TX ISO 9001 certified manufacturing facility. WHAT YOU'LL DO

This position will be responsible for the interpretation of Engineering instructions and requirements to create high tolerance, multiple component mechanical 3D models and drawings that meet the application requirements. In this role, you will participate in and contribute to process improvement and design for manufacturability activities as well as in the development and implementation of company-wide design standards and practices that reflect industry best practices and improved efficiency. Specific responsibilities include:

• Create 3D models and associated 2D drawings in a fast- paced, engineered to order environment.
• Create Item and Part Structure (BOM) information within PLM system and complete the associated workflows.
• Develop and maintain 3D model and 2D drawing database within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system via Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process.
• Perform checking duties on assembly and component level drawings.
• Participate in and contribute to process improvement and design for manufacturability activities.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals.
• Participate in and contribute to resolving client/engineering and management project issue.
• Support manufacturing personnel with evaluations of deviated components, corrective action investigations and other quality related activities.
• Support engineering process development and design for manufacturability efforts.
• Assist in the maintenance of ISO certification and documentations to support products meet appropriate national and international codes and standards.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years' component design experience preferred.
• Associate's degree in related engineering field considered with relevant work experience.
• Experience with precision component design required with preference for rotating equipment, reciprocating compressor, or compressor component experience in an engineered to order environment.
• Strong understanding of Engineering Principles and Design Practices with an emphasis on mechanical design.
• Strong 3D modeling and engineering technology experience. Preference for experience with Autodesk Inventor, Solid Edge, and Windchill.
• Ability to train on and create standard training documents.
• Demonstrated ability to apply continuous improvement techniques to existing processes and procedures.
• Ability to utilize precision measuring and surveying instruments such as calipers, inside/outside micrometers, depth gages, surfaces gages, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to create ideas and develop solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong computer skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in GD&T and ISO Tolerancing.
• Abily to travel up to 10% of time.
