Lubbock Lead Communications Engineer 39123BR KTTZ Television Station Position Description Supervises and performs technical work in the design, development, maintenance and installation of various types of telecommunications, television production, digital video, cable television, and satellite uplink systems and networks. Directly supervises several employees in the Telecommunications area. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Incumbent may be required to operate a vehicle from the TTU/TTUHSC motor pool to perform the job. Major/Essential Functions
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field; with five years experience in field dealing with television, telecommunications, and broadcast systems; or nine years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. May be required to possess a valid Driver's License.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Thorough knowledge of engineering principles that applies to telecommunications and broadcast systems. Ability to utilize mature judgment, initiative, and ingenuity in day-to-day activities. Working knowledge of computer technology applications. Ability to work well with subordinates and peers. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of FCC, CPB regulations, including EAS, transmitter logs and public files. Computer proficiency in hardware, software and networking.
