Job Description

Responsible for overseeing and managing all engineering-related activities for module sealift operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective transport of large modules via marine vessels. This role involves the planning, execution, and coordination of engineering solutions, as well as the management of technical personnel and resources to meet operational objectives. This role works closely with cross-functional teams, including vessel crews, project managers, and external stakeholders, to ensure that all sealift operations are performed to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance. This involves a high degree of independent problem analysis (including highly complex technical problems), independent decision making, and communication.

This is a full-time position that will continue through the duration of the project contract with an anticipated conclusion on or before December 31, 2027.

Essential Functions:



  • Primary technical contact between project customers and marine operating companies
  • Provide regular status reports and lead technical discussions in customer-facing meetings
  • Define engineering scope items related to module sealift operations
  • Review engineering deliverables for agreement with project requirements
  • Review operations deliverables for consistency with associated engineering deliverables
  • Serve as primary technical point of contact for interacting with Marine Warranty Surveyor on engineering deliverables
  • Lead engineering feasibility study scopes of work (with internal or subcontracted resources)
  • Identify technical risk items identification and propose mitigation approaches as needed
  • Ability to recognize critical path tasking towards prioritizing engineering teams to meet project schedules


Knowledge Of:



  • Marine module sealift or offshore operations
  • General knowledge of barge and tug design information (i.e. arrangement and structural drawings, stability letters, engineering analysis reports)
  • Regulatory design reference DNV-ST-N001 Marine Operations and Marine Warranty or equivalent
  • Leading technical deliverable review processes and managing/addressing subsequent comments
  • Engineering and drafting resource planning and scheduling
  • Naval architecture, marine engineering, mechanical engineering, system safety and reliability, shipyard safety requirements.
  • Ship and barge operation, construction, maintenance and repair.
  • Coast Guard regulations and ABS Rules applicable to steel vessel construction/repair.


Skills and Abilities:



  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive coherent written technical reports.
  • Ability to plan and organize work in an often-changing environment.
  • Ability to give attention to detail, to make decisions, and to solve problems (sometimes involving complex technical or management issues).


Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent industry experience) in naval architecture, marine engineering, or mechanical engineering and at least 8 years of applicable marine and engineering experience. Project management experience is highly preferred. Software experience with AutoCAD, Rhino3D, MS Office, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools, and General Hydrostatics Software (GHS). Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
