Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results driven and forward-thinking Fire Design Supervisor to join our amazing culture. In this role, you will design, engineer, and document medium and large sized solutions with moderate to higher levels of complexity according to project requirements. You will supervise a team of fire alarm designers, overseeing and supporting the delivery of the highest levels of production (drawing and design). You will provide design services with a focus on regulatory compliance and serve as fire alarm code SME (subject matter expert) to our customers and our sales teams. As a Fire Design Supervisor, you are a part of a dynamic team that allows you to grow as Convergint grows.

  • Your design expertise may be required in support of pre-sales activities to identify, scope, and estimate cost effective solutions that meet customer requirements.
  • Work with Project Management to ensure engineering deliverables accurately reflect project scope and applicable fire alarm codes.
  • Prepares and/or reviews formal submittal booklets, shop drawings, and technical literature, in accordance with applicable fire alarm codes, as necessary to support each contract.
  • Supervises a team of Project Designers and oversees their design and engineering work. Supervisory duties include but are not limited to mentoring, coaching, and developing colleagues.
  • May provide feedback and assistance with interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work, performance management, and project budget.
  • Monitor resource efforts are within the project budget and schedule.
  • Work closely with Sales and Project Management to identify changes in scope that warrant customer clarification and scope management in support of the budget.



What You'll Need




  • Advanced technical skills and knowledge/expertise in AutoDesk Design Review and Bluebeam.
  • Strong skills in reading and understanding construction drawings, architectural and electrical layouts and diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical/electronic theory and components.
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience: 5-7 years of prior fire alarm design engineering.

Certifications: NICET IV

Preferred Experience: (but not required):



  • FPE Certification
  • Experience designing EST fire alarm systems
