Ball State University seeks an innovative, collaborative, and future-focused scholar and practitioner to serve as the next dean of the College of Communication, Information, and Media (
CCIM).
Reporting directly to Provost Anand R. Marri, the next dean will champion the college's mission to develop ethical practitioners who stand to make a transformational impact in their fields and on society.
Ball State seeks a dean with a sophisticated understanding of the communications and media industries and the opportunities that exist at the intersection of communication and technology. Evidence of scholarly and/or professional achievements that merit a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of professor at Ball State is required. A terminal degree in a relevant field is preferred.

Position Function |
Serve as the chief academic and administrative officer of the college. Plan, direct, and coordinate the operational, personnel, budgetary, fundraising, and student activities of the college; provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of curricula, academic programs, outside resource development, and all related activities; foster interdisciplinarity and promote open communication within and beyond the college; facilitate departments in achieving their goals within a unifying college vision; effectively represent the college and maintain a relationship with external constituents, including benefactors and alumni. |
Minimum Education |
Terminal degree in relevant field. |
Minimum Experience |
At least five years of academic experience in Communication, Information, or Media; experience delivering undergraduate and/or graduate curriculum; advanced academic administrative experience; experience in fiscal management. |
Minimum Other |
Overall credentials that will merit a faculty appointment at a senior rank with tenure within one of the units of the College; a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service within the disciplines of the College; a demonstrated commitment to diversity, and advanced interpersonal skills.
