Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI), is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to work in a large-scale and enterprise environment.

The Network Engineer will provide on-going day to day support for the development of a new multi-level secure network. Contribute to the strategy, architecture, and design of the next generation solutions involving network security, segmentation, and automation. Work with government customers to identify requirements (cost, functionality, performance), provide networking solutions and drive projects forward. Act as an escalation engineer for high severity network related issues, work with engineers and various vendors to identify tactical and strategic solutions.

Responsibilities

Overview of Network Engineer's roles and responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy network infrastructure in the wide area network
  • Perform day to day network support tasks associated with add moves and changes and troubleshooting on network
  • Function as team lead and first point of escalation for Infrastructure team
  • Administer, manage, and maintain all cisco routers, switches, firewalls, (Fortinet and Cisco) software and appliances.
  • Daily maintenance as it relates to ISE
  • Maintain Load Balancers
  • Manager Fortinet SSLVPN over multiple sites
  • Responsible for troubleshooting for all LAN/WAN/Wireless alerts and issues
  • Responsible for maintenance of all monitoring and reporting systems
  • Take ownership of change control process for all network related issues
  • Maintain all documentation
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company's security team
  • Work with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Perform on-call duty for non-business hours support as per shift assignments
  • Perform administrative tasks pertaining to time entry and status reporting
  • Additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, related analytical field, or equivalent experience
  • Have 6+ years of proven experience managing large scale multi-vendor networks

Required Clearance:

Must an Active Secret clearance; US Citizenship required.

Required Skills:

  • Experience working with advanced routing protocols such as DMVPN, BGP, OSPF
  • Expertise in network designs, routing, Software Defined Networks (SDN), Virtual Networks, Subnets, IPAM, DNS, Firewalls, TCP/IP, IPv4, and IPv6.
  • Experience supporting multiple classification of system networks Unclass, Secret, SAP, and TS.
  • CCNP or NSE experience desired
  • COMSEC management knowledge preferred
