Description

The Semel Institute is seeking to hire a full time Project Policy Analyst 2 to complete the duties of Trainer Coordinator. As this team works to establish new statewide and local training contracts there is a need to identifying an individual with highly specialized skills and experience necessary to develop and deliver training and technical assistance on evidence-based substance use disorder treatment practices.In this role you willprovide programmatic and research support to a Semel Institute Center by:

  • Preparing and submitting applications and relateddocuments to OPRS for IRB approvals.
  • Coordinating technology transfer and research dissemination activities for severalmajor projects, including the Pacific Southwest Addiction Technology Transfer Center.
    Managing the evaluation component of all
    research dissemination, technology transfer, educational, and technical assistance events.
  • Managing data collection of participant demographic information,participant satisfaction, and knowledge gained by participating in research dissemination and technology transfer activities.
  • Managingparticipant event recruitment, create event and registration tracking databases, and oversee all aspects of coordination.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of appropriate administrative and project specific IRB/human subject applications to the Office for the Protection of Research Subjects.
  • Develop content for new research dissemination and technology transfer materials based on peer-reviewed literature including charts, tables, and graphics.
  • Oversee dissemination of the latest empirically supported/research-based substance abuse treatment strategies via electronic and print media.
  • Serve as liaison between the ISAP Training Department and prospective conference/meeting participants to ensure that confirmations are appropriately communicated. Oversee the participant recruitment and registration confirmation process, including developing and confirming registration list, generating reports, preparing materials as required.
  • Prepare UCLA- and federal government grantee-specific forms for the ISAP Training Department and distribute to the appropriate departments. Manage and assure appropriateness of all travel and entertainment reimbursements for Training Department staff.
  • Manage all GPRA pre- and post-event participant evaluation activities, including collection of evaluation instruments, analysis of GPRA evaluation data, and write event summary reports that detail participant demographics, event satisfaction, and utility of the research-based information presented at various conferences, meetings, and educational events.
  • Manage logistical functions for research dissemination, technical assistance, and other educational events, including venue scouting, contract negotiations, and onsite logistics.
  • Develop presentations using online search engines of research articles, pictures, and other electronic media to make presentations more interesting and appealing to audiences.
  • Produce reports, reconcile financials, track registration, process refunds, and respond to inquiries regarding online credit card purchases (through CashNET).
  • Maintain research dissemination activity participant records and all relevant databases, including evaluation forms, pre- and post-tests, continuing education documentation, certificates of completion, etc.
  • Oversight of the evaluations from each research dissemination and technology transfer event.
  • Attend research dissemination activities, as appropriate, to oversee on-site logistics.
  • Provide orientation and training to all newly hired Training Department staff, including Training Coordinators and Training Assistants.
  • Prepare all grant- and University-required documents, coordinate the letter of support process, and coordinate the compilation and submission of state and federal grants and contracts, by mail or online submission.
  • Assist Associate Director of Training in preparing and submitting required paperwork for continuing education provider renewals for a variety of disciplines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Pay Range: $28.30 - $54.74 hourly
Qualifications

Required:


  • Experience collecting and interpreting empirically validated and research-based substance abuse treatment information to be useful to substance abuse treatment practitioners in an educational/training setting.
  • Ability to track projects according to multiple dimensions and factors to produce error-free and comprehensive reports.
  • Experience conducting library searches to identify recent research-based publications and other resources.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally, and in writing, with research dissemination and technology transfer participants, representatives of funding agencies, faculty, staff, and supervisors.
  • Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly, using discretion and sensitivity, as well as appropriate grammar to obtain and convey information to and from the public and to staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff members.
  • Ability to operate advanced computers with speed and demonstrated accuracy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office and other required software.
  • Expertise in the use of PowerPoint including creation and formatting of slides as well as incorporation of audio and visual media and animation effects.
  • Organizational skills to maintain training participant records and coordinate other tasks, as required.
  • Skill in performing with frequent interruptions, as a part of a team, and the ability to respond to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to proofread work before submitting as final.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and to problem solve as appropriate and possess the ability to think logically in high demand situations.
  • Willingness to work occasional weekend and evening hours.
  • Willingness to travel to conferences and training events throughout the United States, and international
  • Skill in approving and processing online travel vouchers and other reimbursements.

Preferred:

  • Skill in using the University's CashNET system to accept credit card transactions. Skill in preparing reports, addressing issues resulting from denied and/or challenged credit card activity.
  • Knowledge of continuing education (CE) requirements for professional attendees at conferences, e.g., Psychologists, Nurses, Therapists and Social Workers, Counselors, etc.
  • Experience working in a substance abuse-related research environment.
