About the Role

This position is for the Senior Engineering Manager of the Video and Control Firmware team of Harman Pro focusing on the AMX brand of products. The position requires 15+years of development experience and 10+ years of management experience and involves the oversight of a global team of 20+ firmware engineers (and three managers) in Richardson, TX and Shenzhen China. Duties include all areas of firmware project oversight including estimation, scheduling and tracking. Individual development contributions are also expected with this role as an active member/lead on a project team. This position is a tier 2 staffing manager with oversight of resource allocation, team goal setting, performance evaluation and hiring as needed.

Your Team

This position reports to the Senior Director of Engineering for Video and Control Harman Professional Solutions. The position has three direct report managers comprising a team of 20+ engineers.

What You Will Do

  • Design and develop robust and reliable C/C++/Java firmware for video and control embedded products.

  • Lead design and architecture decisions marshalling collaboration as required for product responsibilities.

  • Manage assigned tasks and schedules for both self and team.

  • Follow engineering standards and best practices for firmware development and code validation.

  • Work with a cross-functional team of engineers to bring products to the video and control industry.

  • Mentor less experienced engineers and support and engage others within the company as needed.

What You Need

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or computer science.

  • Minimum of 15 years of C/C++ or Java programming on embedded platforms and product.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience leading engineering team(s) as project technical lead or manager.

  • Experience in a wide range of embedded product development.

  • Experience on both RTOS based microprocessors as well as larger System-on-chip (SOC) Linux based development

  • Experience in task break-down, estimation and resource scheduling.

  • Ability to lead and drive a team to on-time product release.

  • Ability and desire to both manage and motivate a team and contribute as an individual to achieve product development goals.

What is Nice to Have

  • Fluency in multiple programming and scripting languages.

  • Experience working in a global matrixed organization.

  • Atlassian Tools (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket).

Pay Transparency
USD 142,500 - USD 209,000
Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation are also available, such as bonuses or commission.

Pay is based on a wide range of factors, including, without limitation, skill set, experience, training, location, and business need. While the above range is a reasonable estimate of the wage range for this position, please note the disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographical differential associated with the location where the position may be filled.
