The Department of Mathematics at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, invites applications for two postdoctoral positions: Whyburn Research Associate and Lecturer and Mary Ann Pitts Research Associate and Lecturer. The successful candidates will be expected to conduct their own research, under supervision of a faculty mentor, and teach three courses per year. The appointment begins with the fall term of 2025, with an anticipated start date of August 25, 2025. Qualification Requirements: Applicants must be on track to receive a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field by June 2025 and must hold a Ph.D. at the time of appointment. Applicants must present evidence of outstanding accomplishments and promise in both research and teaching. All candidates whose research interests complement the strengths of the department's current faculty will be considered. Priority will be given to applicants in Algebraic Geometry / Algebraic Number Theory, Analytic Number Theory and Applied Analysis / Partial Differential Equations. In addition, preference will be given to candidates who have received their Ph.D. within the last three years.
