Job Summary

Location: Beresford, SD

This position is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of a multiple small to mid-sized facilities or a single Renewable Natural Gas Facility. Includes safety leadership, personnel responsibility, and managing training programs. Duties include proactive leadership and development of teams to reinforce DTYE's service Keys: Safe, Caring, Dependable and Efficient while also leading continuous improvement and maintenance, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and developing employee culture conducive to a healthy work/life balance.

The employee will be required to operate and maintain a DOT regulated pipeline. Employee will be subject to random drug screening during employment per DOT PHMSA requirements.

Key Accountabilities
  • Ensures the facilities are operated in a safe and environmentally responsible manner in compliance with the core values of DTE Energy and all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Lead day-to-day operation and maintenance activities with detailed process knowledge.
  • Primary liaison with the customer or host site on matters pertaining to daily operations including the scheduling of production levels.
  • Develops the annual O&M budget, including production forecasting; manage expenditures to achieve budgeted performance.
  • Schedules and coordinates major maintenance and contractor activity to coincide with the production requirements and voice of the customer.
  • Prepares monthly and on demand status reports that describe operating performance, issues, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Implements a planned maintenance program consisting of predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance activities documenting such activities through the utilization of the corporate CMMS system.
  • Conducts or arranges for periodic training for all plant personnel covering safety, technical, environmental and employee development.
  • Ensures that all employees and contractors abide by established policies and procedures pertaining to plant safety and environmental stewardship; manages schedules and approves time in accordance with administrative guidelines.
  • Works with Regional Operations Manager and Director of Operations and support personnel to share and implement best practices throughout the organization.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of leadership experience in the operation, maintenance and administration of powerhouses, utility systems, chemical processes, or similar plant assets, or
  • Associate degree or industry-recognized certificate in a related discipline and at least 3 years of leadership experience in the operation, maintenance and administration of powerhouses, utility systems or similar plant assets, or 2 years of military experience at an officer level, or
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with at least one year of supervisory or managerial experience in the operation, maintenance and administration of powerhouses, utility systems or similar plant assets
Other Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Data driven individual with understanding of production monitoring and data reporting to support credit generation and efficient plant operations.
  • Ability to independently operate the facility, perform maintenance activities and troubleshooting; train others to achieve these tasks.
  • Understanding of the operation and maintenance of plant equipment, including the importance of ensuring high data integrity, availability, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems, including but not limited to electrical distribution, internal combustion engines, gas compression, heat exchangers, chemical treatment equipment, transformers, motors, pumps, piping/valves, instrumentation, control systems, etc.
  • Understanding of energy efficiency practices and energy conservation techniques.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory processes and requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple simultaneous activities.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills; continuous improvement knowledge skills and abilities.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of staff and management clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and best practices in work management.
  • Proven ability to take tasks, assignments, and projects from start to completion without significant supervision.
  • Detailed understanding of income statement and the financial impact of operational and maintenance decisions at the facility.

Works both in a business office setting and at a plant site. Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions, and may work near moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office but may become loud at the plant site.
