Position Purpose |
The
Building Operations and Security Assistant supports the Head of Building Operations and Security in the day-to-day operations of the Hood Museum of Art. The Building Operations and Security Assistant's responsibilities will include processing and tracking work orders and incident reports, maintaining lines of communication with and escorting campus partners to facilitate repairs to the buildings, and acting as backup to the Head of Buildings Operations and Security. In rotation with the Head of Building Operations and Security, the Building Operations and Security Assistant will be the after-hours on-call point of contact for all museum-related emergencies.

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the facilities maintenance or security field.
- 1-3 years of experience in building operations, facilities maintenance, security, or the equivalent
- Valid Driver's License.
- Hold or be able to obtain a CPR/AED certification.
- Ability to stand/walk for up to 8 hours a day, with some possible time outdoors.
- Ability to climb ladders up to 10' tall.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to pass an NH Department of Transportation physical as per Dartmouth policy to operate Hood vehicles
- Have a working mobile phone and must be able to be contacted when on call
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Good organizational and communication skills, an ability to present yourself professionally

Preferred Qualifications |
HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry knowledge- Prior cultural property protection experience
- Experience organizing and maintaining multiple schedules

Key Accountabilities
Description |
Facilities Maintenance - Assists in scheduling and facilitating maintenance of the Hood Museum's buildings, spaces, and grounds: create and track work orders and escort campus partners and contractors while work is conducted in secure spaces. Coordinates with custodial services to help maintain a high level of facility cleanliness. Attends museum events as assigned to assist in setup, breakdown, and security. |

Security Operations - Enforces museum policies in all museum spaces to ensure the security of the collection, staff, and visitors. Reports incidents, inconsistencies, or damages immediately. Acts as an after-hours on-call in rotation with the Head of Buildings Operations and Security. |
