Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Technician I - Molecular Biology - Neurocognition & Prostate Cancer - Mineola.

This position is offered jointly by the Research Institute and the Department of Urology. In this role, the successful candidate under supervision performs experiments that include conducting molecular and cellular biology experiments for a translational research project with clinical relevance in understanding the role of the immune system in prostate cancer and neuro-cognition. The successful applicant will carry out experiments to explore the effects of the hormonal environment on neuronal function. Experience with general basic research experience with DNA, RNA, protein analysis, tissue culture, immunohistochemistry and histology. Knowledge of nervous system structure and function valuable. Day to day laboratory tasks, orders supplies and maintains the laboratory notebook. Prepares data presentation and analysis as well as laboratory cleaning and organization. Assists with manuscripts and grant applications submissions.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Prepares buffers and related materials for the other members in the lab
    • Performs basic scientific data analysis derived from experimental studies Compiles data graphs figures and reports Maintains clear accurate and detailed records
    • Maintains reagents and consubable stock Orders supplies maintains laboratory instruments and laboratory stock
    • Provides technical assistance to designated employees and students Interacts in a team oriented manner with laboratory personnel and with the PI Principal Investigator
    • Assists in the preparation of research papers for publication Maintains clear accurate detailed records of results Compiles and analyzes research data Prioritizes assignments based on project requirements
    • Performs experimental studies with various animal species
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    • Under supervision performs chemical biological immunologic and microscopic assays

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree Biology Biochemistry Cell Biology or Immunology. Working knowledge of lab instruments spectrometer microscopes centrifuges autoclaves etc and supplies. Experience and expertise in cell/molecular biological techniques. Familiarity with equipment such as spectrometers microscopes centrifuges autoclaves etc. Strong communication both written and oral, detail orientation interpersonal multitasking skills. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office especially Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree Biology Chemistry Biochemistry. 1-2 years Hands on research experience. 1-2 years Experience with various molecular cellular and biochemical techniques; scientific calculations scientific graphing and scientific data log. Knowledge of Tissue and Cell culture Enzyme linked Immunosorbent Assay ELISA reverse transcription RT polymerase chain reaction PCR.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $63,542.24 - $68,309.13 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
