POSITION SUMMARY:

As a CNC Operator II, you will support in the development of technology focused process projects through to the production phase, leveraging CNC technical knowledge. Provide technology expertise in CNC programming and troubleshooting for the site and Region. Develop solutions integrating technical expertise, robust problem-solving methodologies and fostering a culture of innovation improving the performance of Chromalloy.

Critical Success Factors for This Role




  • Previous experience as a senior member of a technical team developing technical solutions for product development/production support and the ability to continually improve CNC equipment functionality.
  • Proven ability to technically lead and deliver projects while interfacing effectively with stakeholders and other functions within a matrix organizational structure.
  • Proven experience of delivery through process design, best practices, and technology projects
  • Proven experience of problem-solving complex CNC technical and production issues to resolution.
  • Typically, minimum of 8 years' experience in Aerospace or Industrial gas turbine engine as a CNC technician, achieving progressively increasing responsibility and results



Preferred:



  • Ability to design and manufacture tools, fixtures, and assembly jigs for manufacturing and inspection use
  • Ability to utilize CAD/CAM software



ESSENTIAL DUTIES/TASKS:

Leadership



  • Participates in Community of Practice(s)
  • Assists in technology development projects to full production capability
  • Role model in terms of professional behaviors and personal accountability.
  • Adhere to and lead by example, all Company health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Provide technical planning leadership by setting technology project priorities based upon company goals, anticipated industry trends, and emerging technology.
  • Engage with others inside of Chromalloy to provide a technical leadership presence



Technology Development



  • Participates in technical discussions with key customers and related program office
  • Partner with manufacturing operations ensuring effective implementation of technology projects is accomplished.
  • Provide technical guidance for implementation of new technologies into the operational environment that effectively drive improvements in business metrics.
  • Provide accurate reports/presentations to management pertaining to impact of technology projects.
  • Present outcome of projects/technologies to internal and external customer



Process Optimization



  • Continually review and improve technical processes as they relate to area of specialty.
  • Promote Operational Excellence through utilization of a robust problem-solving methodology and technical expertise.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment by enforcing and supporting 5S principles.
  • Adhere to and promote Corporate Code of Ethical Standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Company IPM/QPM and ISO-9000 quality requirements.



Coaching/Mentoring



  • Provide a guiding role, teaching and instructing within the site and region to effect knowledge transfer.
  • Be a trainer within area of focus to multiple functions and levels across the corporation.
  • Traveling outside the facility, as required.
  • Communicate with all levels within the Engineering and Operations Organization ensuring consistent knowledge transfer.
  • Performing other tasks in the facility, the region, and the corporation, as needed.



QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Expert knowledge of G-code for CNC Machines Expert knowledge of machining speeds and feeds for proper material application
  • Skilled in the setup of CNC machine tool equipment (mills, lathes, EDM and Grinders)
  • Knowledge of Blueprint reading Knowledge of Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and application to manufacturing
  • Thoughtful and effective communications skills and the ability work under limited supervision
  • Ability to act as a team lead and organize, prioritize, direct, and monitor the work of lower level employees
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English Ability to create detailed technical reports, technique sheets, data cards and setup sheets.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills as well as a strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
