The College of Aviation at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona invites applications for a non-tenure track position in Applied Aviation Sciences Department starting in January 2025 at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in the field of air traffic control.

The department is interested in candidates serving as the primary instructor who can teach lecture courses focused on air traffic control procedures and techniques based on current standards and demands of the national airspace. Faculty candidates should be able to teach air traffic basics courses in a way that is coherent and understanding to students with little-to-no previous aviation knowledge. As part of their appointment, the selected candidate will mentor students.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate ability to teach and develop classroom and laboratory courses across all levels of undergraduate education in basics of understanding, and advanced skillsets in the industry. Successful faculty candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education both in the classroom and through experiential learning opportunities. The department has a strong focus on hands-on educational methods and emphasizes practical skills students will need after graduation.

Qualifications
  • Candidates must hold extensive experience in the aviation industry, with preference given to air traffic specialist positions.
  • Preferably candidates should understand the current systems used in the air traffic environment such as STARS, ERAM, and ASDE-X.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills, being willing to work one-on-one with air traffic program students.
  • Ideally, the applicant holds a master's or bachelor's degree, but with extensive work experience in the field, the requirement of a degree may be omitted.
