We are looking for a dedicated Cardiac Rehab RN Clinic Lead like you to join our Lubbock Heart team.
What You Will do in this Role:
- Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients
- Gathers baseline conditioning/cardiac status through current functional evaluations
- Conducts 1:1 evaluations and consultations to further inform patients and their families of cardiac rehab environment with review of heart event, CAD risk factors, medication compliance, and past medical history
- Monitors telemetry during cardiac rehab classes
- Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support in a professional manner to patients and families.
- Gathers current medication list and ensures patients fully understand reason for and actions of all medications
- Contact physician if indicated to modify medication regime
- Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals, and making or recommending necessary adjustments
- Evaluates physical complaints by thoroughly questioning and performing physical assessment
- Recognize need for interventions in evaluation of angina, hypertension, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and takes appropriate medical action
- Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care team members
- Provides patient and family education for cardiac rehab patients.
- Provides appropriate and safe interventions in emergency situations commonly experienced by cardiac rehab patients.
- Documents therapy activities to maintain an accurate and legal medical record.
- Operates specialized equipment included in the cardiac rehab facility.
- Assists in maintaining a safe environment for patients.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Utilizes special knowledge of age-specific differences in therapy patients to recognize changes in patient status.
- Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens.
- Develops individual goals for professional growth.
- Participates in achieving unit, departmental and organizational goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Director.
- Maintains sufficient and qualified staff to meet the needs of the clinic.
- Assists director with interviews, hiring, staffing, scheduling and any other day-to-day clinic needs.
What Qualifications You Will Need:
- Current TX RN License
- BSN from accredited University preferred
- BLS/ACLS
- Cardiac Rehab and/or Outpatient clinic experience preferred
- Critical care experience strongly preferred
- Basic EKG Interpretation experience: 12-lead EKG Interpretation experience preferred
- Familiarity with ACSM Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescriptions and AACVPR Guidelines for Cardiac Rehab preferred
- Cerner and ScottCare/VersaCare system experience preferred
- At least 12 months of nursing experience required, including ECG as needed
- Must have ability to multi-task
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Requires the ability to work under minimal supervision and assume responsibilities for task initiation and completion
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
- Basic computer knowledge with experience using Microsoft Office 365
Your Shift: Monday-Thursday 7a-5p and Friday 8a-12p

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac, orthopedic, nephrology, urology, and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic, orthopedic, urology, and general surgery. We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms, 4 fully operating OR rooms, 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room, 11-day surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds spread over three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms. We pride ourselves on giving the best overall care possible to our patients and on our family style atmosphere that includes everyone: patients and their families, physicians, and our employees.
