General Summary

The Quality Control Inspector (Manufacturing) provides quality control support in a metal fabrication shop environment for the manufacturing of custom designed piping enclosures and fittings in support field operations on a global basis.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintains a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards and practices and to legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concern
  • Performs all duties as assigned and adheres to TEAM's Core Values.
  • Works with facility management and customer's representatives to ensure customer satisfaction through the analysis and reporting of customer satisfaction data (i.e., customer surveys); identify, track and promote the resolution of customer issues; provide guidance to facility management for such resolution.
  • Communicates and interacts with customers and third parties on all quality issues and other issues as designated by facility management in a manner that benefits the professional reputation of the company.
  • Performs receiving inspection on incoming materials by confirming specification, conducting visual and measurement tests, rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Approves in-process production by confirming specification, conducting required visual and/or dimensional inspections, or nondestructive testing processes and communicating results or required corrective measures needed to production supervision personnel.
  • Documents all inspection results by completing required reports and logs timely, summarizing required re-work, inputting required data into databases as needed.
  • Keeps measuring equipment operational and in good condition by following operating instructions, handling equipment properly, and storing equipment in accordance to manufacturer's directions.
  • Determines appropriate inspection procedures and processes applicable to part or product. Perform the required inspection which may include any or all of the following:
    • Checking required critical dimensions to specified tolerances
    • Assessment of machined finish and/or material hardness
    • Detection of cracks or other defects utilizing visual or other inspection methods
    • Inspection of critical components, tools, jogs, fixtures, and gauge devices
    • Inspect and set adjustable inspection instruments or tools to read-out accurately
    • Perform in-process inspections as required on shop floor
  • Assures that all required Quality Assurance inspection points have been completed for the part or assembly and verifying that all documentation is accurate and complete for the job package.
  • Assures the overall quality of all manufactured products and for maintaining the quality standards by proper execution of the required duties in support of inspection and quality assurance standards established for the facility in accordance with work instructions for the commercial and nuclear industries.
  • Partners with the Quality Control Supervisor and the facility management team to support the facility's quality goals and help ensure that the facility meets both internal and external customer expectations.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical school or college degree preferred
  • Prefer 5+ years of inspection experience in a shop manufacturing setting
  • Ability to read and interpret Quality Control documents, codes, standards, and customer specifications
  • Solid working knowledge of blueprint reading
  • Basic understanding of Nondestructive Testing techniques (previous certification preferred), heat treating, and NDE and Heat Treat specifications.
  • Working knowledge in the use of Tape Measure, Calipers, and Micrometers. Sufficient manual dexterity to handle and manipulate delicate parts and measuring instruments.

Work Conditions

  • Position is based out of a branch or site location.
  • Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in a plant atmosphere
  • Interaction with other crew employees, as well as supervisors and client personnel
  • Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection
  • May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes
  • May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry75 pounds
  • Must be able to walk and climb except when performing non-field duties
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively
  • Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permit the employee to perform routine field duties
  • Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations
  • Sufficient personal mobility to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment to include the ability to gain access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells
