About The Enterprise Innovation Institute

The Enterprise Innovation Institute is Georgia Tech's economic development arm, comprised of more than a dozen programs. It's the largest and most comprehensive university-based program of its kind in the United States. Job Summary

Serving within the Research Faculty of The Institute, Startup Catalysts directly support the extension, service, and economic development missions of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia and beyond. Primarily this position provides entrepreneurial incubation consultative services to Georgia Tech Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) member startup companies. Consulting services are primarily focused on improving business strategies that will foster development and encourage growth.

Specifically, this position will specialize in Cyber Security startup incubation in all fields of Cyber Security. Additionally, this individual needs to be a subject matter expert in the knowledge of the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community, and the Federal Government. The candidate must understand technology alignment and application to the Major Commands (MAJCOMs), Combatant Commands (COCOMs), Program Executive Offices (PEOs), etc. The candidate should have strong senior executive relationships so that they can articulate the ATDC program in outreach efforts. Moreover, the candidate must understand the business cycle process within the DoD/IC/FEDCIV to include technology applications, PoCs/pilots and procurement phases.

The incumbent will oversee ATDC Cyber Security programmatic activities which will include (overall): recruiting cyber security technology startups; marketing the ATDC Cyber Security Program and reporting program results to the corporate sponsor; coordinating all efforts involved with relevant program partners/stakeholders/constituents.

Hybrid Working

This position is hybrid: remote and onsite. The primary office location will be in the Atlanta area however, incumbent in this position may be expected to travel state-wide and remain flexible to on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client schedules and/or project requirements).

Responsibilities

  • Build DoD/IC/FEDCIV relationships that help portfolio companies recognize and be considered for DoD contracts
  • Evaluate and assess the business potential of ATDC applicant companies and provide recommendations for membership.
  • Through ongoing consultative support, actively deliver strategic innovative solutions that support the development and growth of ATDC startup companies within the industry of Cyber Security.
  • Serve as ATDC subject matter expert in Cyber Security including all related fields, but not limited to military security applications, etc.
  • Oversee ATDC Cyber Security programmatic activities, market the ATDC Cyber Security program, report program results to the corporate sponsor; coordinate all efforts involved with relevant program partners/stakeholders/constituents.
  • Manage and cultivate relationships with investors and technology leaders to promote ATDC market outreach and business development. Collaborate with organizational team members to bolster ATDC marketplace strategy.
  • Participate in further development of the Cyber Security ecosystem so that ATDC will be recognized as the leader in cyber security incubation.
  • Use network and ecosystem contacts to find pilots for Cyber Security vertical portfolio companies.
  • Recruit Georgia based Cyber Security startup companies to come into the program.
  • Plan, organize and create the content annually for vertical events such as Entrepreneurs Night and a sponsor's event highlighting key executives in the industry.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Rank in Sr. Extension Professional

  • A Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science, MBA or related/relevant field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science, MBA or related/relevant field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Engineering, Business, Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science, MBA or related/relevant field and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred Education: BS degree in Cyber Security/Information Technology, or other related fields in combination with an advanced degree (MS/MBA or doctorate) in a business or technology-related field.
  • Preferred Work Experience: 10+ years of job-related work experience, in private or public sector in the Cyber Security industry, specifically working with or for the Department of Defense.
  • Preferred Applicant Skills/Background: (1) Founder of a technology startup or early-stage startup experience; and/or (2) Leadership experience managing a technology company; and/or (3) Leadership or supporting role in securing multiple rounds of startup financing (angel or venture); (4) Understands the workings of the Department of Defense cyber security and/or innovation agencies(5) General knowledge of entrepreneurial consultative service delivery; (6) Ability to analyze, evaluate, and assess complex information; coaching and consulting experience; and an ability to use independent judgment and communicate effectively. Strong public speaking/presentation skills, process analysis, and problem-solving, as well as the use of standard office equipment and specialized computer applications. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate a reputable track record in strategic entrepreneurship with an ability to interpret/present data in a logical and client-understandable fashion.

Travel: Incumbents in this position may be expected to travel, as needed, and remain flexible to on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules and/or project requirements).
