Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain work areas of offices and industrial buildings in clean and orderly condition. Follow janitorial cleaning schedule to promote health and safety while reducing the spread of infection. Ensure regular and routinely scheduled cleaning work assignments are completed when required.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchens and restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures
  • Clean, dust and wipe furniture; sweep, mop and vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill kitchen/restroom dispensers
  • Assist with set-up of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
  • Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets
  • Use and maintain power equipment and hand tools, buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops and squeegees for cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
  • Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments
  • Lock and unlock assigned buildings; secure building when facilities are not in use, check for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights
  • Follow instructions regarding use of chemicals and supplies and use as directed.
  • Perform cleaning and related activities (such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks, stairs, and assigned areas) using hand-operated tools or small power equipment.
  • Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis
  • Wash accessible interior and exterior windows. Clean blinds. Obtain proper laundering for cleaning rags and dust mops
  • Report presence of animals, vermin or insects; water leaks and other maintenance needs; any noticeable health and safety hazards; any need for cleaning supplies or equipment repair in advance
  • Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and keep assigned storage areas clean and organized
  • Follow company and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines in daily work routines and assignments
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
  • Complete appropriate paperwork in a proper manner for the purchase, stocking, and/or use of all materials required for work completion
  • May recommend cost savings strategies and techniques that will not compromise quality and individual safety
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Perform other related tasks or special duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; with a minimum of 0+ years of experience
  • Working knowledge of proper cleaning methods, techniques and procedures
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to comply with all cleaning chemical and equipment use instructions
