Job Summary

The Local Sponsorship Account Manager maintains strategic relationships with underwriters, clients, corporate sponsors, and community partners.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Research, cultivate and solicit support (underwriting) for WGCU from corporations and businesses.
  • Develops sales and revenue opportunities for WGCU Public Broadcasting.
  • Secures new clients, renews and upsells existing clients.
  • Represents the University in all activities associated with sales for the department.
  • Works closely with management in the fulfillment of departmental financial goals.
  • Recommends policies and goals to help determine future funding resources for department.
  • Maintain existing accounts and solicit new ones.
  • Report to, and coordinate accounts with, the development department supervisor.
  • Assist with soliciting challenges and other forms of support for on-air fund drives.
  • Be familiar with the interests, demographics, buying habits and other relevant information about the public radio audience.
  • Participate in on-air fundraising, possibly including pitching.
  • Ensures and maintains PCI compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • This position requires either eight years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Professional full-time experience in corporate fundraising and event sponsorship.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) software.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
  • Two Years Professional full-time experience in corporate fundraising and event sponsorship.
  • Public media experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of marketing principles, including promotion, fundraising, and public relations.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.
  • Demonstrated fundraising and/or sales skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
  • Skill in public speaking and delivering presentations to individuals and groups.
  • Skill in negotiation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strategic relations with colleagues, donors, and constituents.
  • Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes an equitable environment.
