We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lathe and/or Mill CNC Machinist specializing in stainless steel to join our clients dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in parts and tooling set-up, operating, adjusting and maintaining machines, ensuring precision via use of calipers, micrometers and tape measures and quality in the production of stainless steel components. This position requires attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate Lathe/Mill Machines: Set up and operate manual and CNC lathes/mills to machine stainless steel parts according to specifications by loading programs into machine tool controls.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical instructions to produce precise components.
  • Tool Selection and Setup: Select appropriate tools, attachments, and materials for each job, ensuring proper machine setup and calibration.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of machined parts using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers and tape measures.) to ensure adherence to tolerances and specifications. Must be able to measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on lathe machines to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production runs, including material usage, job progress, and any issues encountered.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other machinists to resolve technical issues and improve manufacturing processes.

Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a lathe machinist, preferably with a focus on stainless steel.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating manual and CNC lathes/mills, with a strong understanding of machining principles and techniques. Experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes independently.
  • Education: Technical diploma in CNC Machining preferred. 2 years CNC lathe & Milling machine experience preferred.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints accurately.
  • Precision Measuring: Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Removal of burrs, sharp edges and cleaning parts using buffers, belt sanders and rotary tools.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 60# materials and stand for extended periods. Must be capable of bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching and working overhead.
  • Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
