Brown and Caldwell is looking for an Infrastructure Project Engineer to help execute planning, design, and construction of infrastructure (potable water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage pipelines) projects for municipal sector clients in the Puget Sound Area. Our team works on a variety of local projects including collection system planning studies, conveyance and pipeline design, and condition assessments for existing pipelines and treatment facilities. Projects include conventional design/bid/build and alternative delivery. Our selected candidate will support these individual projects as well as large infrastructure program management as a technical resource.

Detailed Description:

Our ideal candidate is located anywhere in the Puget Sound area and is capable of leading technical tasks, delivering quality work products, collaborating with a diverse team, and being accountable to deadlines and client expectations. This position offers the opportunity to advance your leadership skills directing work and providing oversight and engaging in business development activities. You will be engaging in the following types of work:



  • Execute engineering work on projects for master planning and design of a variety of wastewater, potable water, stormwater, and recycled water infrastructure projects, including pipeline rehabilitation and inflow and infiltration studies/remedial action.
  • Direct the work of junior engineers and designers, coordinate with other engineering disciplines and subcontractors to meet, or exceed the project success metrics and client expectations. This role would lead to project and design management opportunities.
  • Support infrastructure delivery program management as a technical resource
  • Prepare reports, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for various multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Lead and support construction projects by providing office and field engineering services.
  • Conduct field investigations to observe the work of contractors and perform condition assessment evaluations.
  • Provide support, mentorship, and guidance to junior staff.
  • Participate in business development activities and support the preparation of proposals and engineering fees for solicited work from various clients.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • B.S. degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 4 years of experience in design and construction of civil and infrastructure related projects with experience as task lead.
  • Demonstrated experience in defining appropriate technical analysis methods to meet project design criteria.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and prepare written reports and documents.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Ability to travel to sites to conduct site/field visits which may include occasional overnight travel.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 6+ years of applicable experience.
  • Experience in water/wastewater/storm drain conveyance design.
  • Experience with small to mid-sized pump stations.
  • Proposal writing experience.
  • Experience using drafting and design software (AutoCAD, ArcGIS Pro).


Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $88,000 - $120,000

Location B: $97,000 - $132,000

Location C: $105,000 - $144,000
