Description
The mission of the MGH Center for Community Health Improvement (CCHI) is to collaborate with underserved communities to improve health. CCHI carries out this mission by working to reduce substance abuse and violence in Chelsea, Revere and Charlestown, increase access to care for vulnerable populations, eliminate racial and ethnic disparities for all MGH patients and provide opportunities for Boston, Revere and Chelsea students. The MGH Youth Program provides academic and experiential opportunities in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to youth in grades 3 -12, and beyond. The MGH Youth Scholars Program (YSP) provides foundational learning for Scholars in grades 9 - 12 and beyond. The goal is to spark college aspirations and ensure that MGH Scholars understand the connection between obtaining a health or science career and the academic preparation it takes to succeed in these careers. Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that MGH Youth Scholars are inspired about opportunities in science and healthcare, compelled to complete high school and enter the workforce or matriculate and graduate from institutions of higher education while having the necessary mindset to thrive on a college campus and contribute as a skilled and compassionate professional. The Project Manager is responsible for developing a curriculum that exposes high school students to a variety of careers in STEM and builds upon the existing college and career curriculum modules. The manager will facilitate weekly group sessions along with building one-on-one relationships with students and their families. Potential topics and activities will include continued exposure to careers in healthcare and medicine through hands-on department visits and interactive workshops, college exploration activities and integration of a social/emotional learning curriculum. The manager will demonstrate bold innovation, superior program management, networking, and relationship building skills all while maintaining the highest standard of excellence for MGH's Youth Programs. The manager will also have a passion and demonstrated experience and success in youth development, college access and persistence work. Reporting to the Director of Youth Programs and working alongside with other YSP coordinators and managers the College and Career Project Manager will develop strategies that will assure the achievement of MGH's Youth Program's short- and long-term comprehensive goals.
