Summary of Job Duties:Diesel Technology: Classes taught may include but are not limited to: Preventative Maintenance and Inspection, Gas and Diesel Engine Systems, Diesel Electronic Systems, Diesel Drive Train, Suspension and Steering, Diesel Brakes, Diesel HVAC Systems, and Internships.

INSTRUCTOR DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
*Provide technical instruction and demonstrations relevant to the actual real-world work environment
*Responsible for utilizing innovative teaching strategies to meet the learning needs of a diverse student population.
*Develop and organize lesson plans, reference materials, syllabi, technology and other learning aids.
*Serve as advisor for assigned students assisting with class schedule development, planning course of study to achieve graduation goals, refer students to proper personnel for counseling, financial aid, etc...
*Keep sufficient and accurate records as advised by supervisor to support grades assigned in all classes taught; submitting grades in a timely manner as required by the Registrar's Office.
*Other duties as assigned.
Successful candidates must have a commitment to working cooperatively with other campus personnel to fulfill the Mission of the College, the ability to deliver quality instruction/training, dedication to student success, and a commitment to high academic standards. Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 5 years of practical work experience in the field of diesel technology

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university (or will make the commitment to earn an associate's degree within the first 3 years of employment)

Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements upon approval of the Chancellor.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Industry specific and/or ASE certifications

  • Previous experience as an instructor and/or trainer in the field

  • Possesses Class A CDL

Additional Information:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Extensive and "real world" knowledge in the area of diesel technology.

  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to individuals and groups.

  • Able to provide topic related demonstrations for assigned students and explain processes and techniques in an easy to understand manner.

  • Proficient in the use of basic computer applications such as email and word processing programs.

  • Able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and move freely about the technical studies buildings, classrooms, and indoor and outdoor labs.
