Public Safety Dispatcher Canisius University is accepting applications for a full-time dispatcher. Public Safety Dispatchers perform a variety of duties involved in receiving, evaluating, prioritizing and relaying calls for emergency and non-emergency public safety assistance. Dispatch appropriate units and coordinates response of emergency personnel. Operates a variety of telecommunication and computer equipment and performs specialized clerical duties involved in the preparation, maintenance and release of information to law enforcement entities. Job Duties Dispatchers must speak clearly, think quickly, work under stressful situations, have ability to listen closely and take notes. Will be required to sit for long periods of time. Dispatchers will operate the Computer Aided Dispatch System (CAD), have the ability to follow instructions, operate a fire alarm system, radio base unit, and university ID card system. Dispatchers will interact with the students, college faculty and staff, the general public and other police agencies. Key Skills/Requirements

Compensation and Benefits: Salary: $15.00 per hour Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The selected candidate's actual base pay will be based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including experience. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process. This is a full time position. Benefits are available the first of the month after the full-time employee's date of hire and include - health, dental and vision insurance, life and long term disability insurance, and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time employees with contribution from the University after one year. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents. |
