Minimum Qualifications: |
1.4 years post-secondary education.
2.Minimum 5 years safety management experience
3.Prior experience in Risk Assessment/Management
4.Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record.

Duties and Responsibilities |
1.Works with safety team to plan, implement, and coordinate program to reduce or eliminate occupational illnesses, deaths, and financial losses.
2.Identifies and appraises conditions which could produce accidents and financial losses and evaluates potential extent of injuries.
3.Conducts or directs research studies to identify risk and evaluate loss producing potential of given system, operation, or process.
4.Works with Safety Team to develop accident-prevention and loss control systems and programs.
5.Coordinates safety activities of unit managers to address risk throughout organization.
6.Compiles, analyzes, and interprets statistical data and prepares reports for information from personnel concerned in accident.
7.Maintains liaison with outside organizations to assure information exchange and mutual assistance.
8.Devises methods to evaluate safety program and conducts or directs evaluations.
9.Evaluates technical and scientific publications concerned with safety management and participates in activities of related organizations to update knowledge of safety program developments.
10.May store and retrieve statistical data using computer.
11.Investigate and manage all claims with insurance companies.
12.Interpret laws, new and old, and use these laws in communication, training, and enforcement.
13.Keep involved with corporate and regional risk management. To manage our claims efficiently and effectively 14.Analyze all loss runs for accidents, injuries, fines, and employee/agency satisfaction.
15.After analyzing all loss runs for accidents, injuries, fines, and employee/agency satisfaction, correct any problem areas by working with safety team to implement corrective actions.
16.Compare benchmarks; monitor inspections, OSHA inspections, MSHA inspections, public safety complaints and insurance.
17.Analyze and measure reduction of accident, injuries, fines and employee/agency satisfaction. All must reduce with exception to future purchases and proper staffing. Meet Knife River Corporate safety goals.
18.Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.
19.Must have strong analytical skills to assess risk, strong communication skills, and sound decision making.
20.Ensure MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, FMCSA, safety, and environmental regulation compliance.
21.Frequently working in an environment with: Talking, hearing. Occasionally working in an environment with: Stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, fingering, loud noises, and need for accommodation, color vision, depth perception, and need for near and far acuity.
22.Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record under Company policy.
23.Performs other duties as assigned.
