Position begins August 2025 Full-time, professional track, Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice; salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position requires relocation to Austin, TX. Responsibilities will include some of the following, depending on the strengths, experiences, and desires of the successful candidate:
Qualifications
DMA preferred, MM required. Demonstrated commitment to preparing young musicians for twenty-first century teaching and performing careers through high professional standards, superb pedagogical skills, effective advocacy and outreach, and active mentoring. Demonstrated excellence as a recruiter and program builder. A record of excellence as a teacher, balanced with evidence of contributions to the professional field of conducting. Demonstrated experience teaching or working with students from many backgrounds; expansive knowledge of repertoires is encouraged, especially those traditionally underrepresented in higher education. Visibility as a teacher, performer and presenter at professional meetings. A candidate with significant experience with and an established record of successful teaching, recruitment, and retention at a university or conservatory is preferred. Application Instructions
