Daikin Applied is seeking a Controls Engineer based out of our Washington DC - area office! The Controls Engineer II is responsible for designing, developing, testing and implementing controls systems for Daikin's cutting-edge HVAC Equipment. Under general supervision, you will collaborate with project teams, design detailed controls systems, program control sequences and ensure systems operate efficiently and effectively to meet the environmental needs of various customers. What you will do:



  • Develops solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity
  • Responsible for automatic temperature controls (ATC) submittal packages including but not limited to Visio drawings, cutsheets, As-Built, O&M, and closeout documents
  • Make part selections from Daikin's current product list, reaching out to vendors as needed for custom solutions
  • Complete the pre-install field survey and assessment of work site paperwork
  • Partner with sales team to provide support on controls estimates
  • Evaluates, analyzes, and makes recommendations on products, designs, and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of Daikin



Minimum Qualifications:



  • 4 year bachelor's degree in Engineering or another technical/scientific field
  • 4 years related controls experience
  • Understanding of electrical schematics and other instrumentations used in the development of controls systems
  • Proficient with fundamentals of instrumentation, including RTDs, thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, electrical and power measurements, and analog/digital data acquisition.
  • Formal coursework in the areas of measurement systems, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, and strength of materials preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask & reprioritize tasks frequently



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with Tridium controls

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $120,000 - $135,000 in the Washington DC area. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
