Position description

The Electrophysiology Specialist (Junior or Assistant, depending on experience) will independently design and execute a variety of electrophysiology experiments, including local field potential recordings, voltage-sensitive dye imaging, laser scanning photostimulation (optogenetics), and whole-cell patch-clamp techniques (voltage clamp, current clamp, inhibitory and excitatory post-synaptic currents, etc.). The specialist is expected to read and critically analyze scholarly articles to stay current with advancements in the field. Experience working with mice is essential

Key Responsibilities:

* Design and execute experiments with some supervision

* Maintain detailed experiment logs and protocols

* Direct routine preventative maintenance of equipment

* May be required to work overtime to complete experiment

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

* Junior Specialists - Appointees to the Junior rank should possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or equivalent research experience.

* Assistant Specialists - Appointees to the Assistant rank should possess a master's degree (or equivalent degree), or five years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
