Overview

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking a Cable Technician I to join our team on the upcoming Enterprise DISA JSP ETM Services 2.0 program.

This position is onsite in the Washington, DC area.



Duties & Responsibilities

    Perform installation, maintenance, and documentation of cable infrastructure, including copper, coax, and fiber optic cabling under the Enterprise Transport Network.
  • Ensure that all network assets, including hardware and cabling, are documented accurately in the configuration management system. This includes recording asset locations, configurations, and any modifications.
  • Support efforts to document and maintain baseline configurations of network assets, ensuring adherence to DoD and JSP standards.
  • Assist in tracking and managing network assets, cabling infrastructure, and associated documentation in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  • Help monitor warranties and licenses for cabling and networking equipment, ensuring information is up to date in the Government-provided tracking system.
  • Assist in configuring and testing network systems in compliance with DISA's Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), under supervision from senior network or system engineers.
  • Contribute to monthly reporting for the Asset and Configuration Management team, detailing any changes to the cabling or asset baselines and updates in the CMDB


Qualifications

  • Active Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Related field or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience; 3+ years within the DOD environment.
  • Must be familiar with BICSI rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Well versed in the use of network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber OTDRs and fiber power meters.
  • Analyzes, administers, and maintains telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure.
  • Basic understanding of cable installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting in a networked environment.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as ANSI/TIA/EIA for cabling systems.
  • Ability to follow network configuration and asset management practices as per DoD and JSP engineering standards.
  • Familiarity with Configuration Management Database (CMDB) principles and practices is a plus.
  • Good communication skills for coordination and reporting.
  • Certifications: Fiber Optic, CAT6 Installation
