Overview

The Oncology group at Alnylam is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate to join our team. As a highly focused interdisciplinary team we are seeking to bring the power of RNAi therapeutics to the fight against cancer. The successful candidate will be responsible for cell and molecular mechanism-based research efforts to evaluate therapeutic potential of biological targets and advance Alnylam's RNAi platform across multiple cancer indications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vitro cell culture, molecular and cellular techniques, and cancer related assays. The role requires ability to learn new techniques, capacity to multi-task, and willingness to collaborate with multiple interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.

This position is onsite and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, optimize, and execute cell and molecular based experiments to evaluate target biology and characterize the activity of developmental RNAi candidates in relevant oncology models.
* Design and optimize new assays and onboard new technologies to advance in vitro oncology efforts.
* Perform downstream processing and analysis from tissue samples and ex vivo models to support evaluation of target engagement, mechanism of action, and biomarker analysis of RNAi therapeutics.
* Analyze, interpret, and present research findings within a multidisciplinary Oncology team and to the wider organization to facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
* Excellent documentation practices in maintaining electronic lab notebook entries, protocols, data summaries, and technical reports.

Qualifications

* BS/MS in Biology, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, or related field with 3-5 years experience in industry.
* Proficiency in molecular and cellular techniques including RT-qPCR, Western Blot, immunofluorescence and flow cytometry.
* Experience with cancer-relevant assays to measure cell proliferation, death, invasion, migration with live cell imaging systems (Sartorius Incucyte) is highly preferred.
* Excellent cell culture skills using nucleic acid-based approaches (such as RNAi, CRISPR, mRNA).
* Ability to optimize and perform experiments and summarize results with limited guidance.
* Must be a team player with good interpersonal skills, open to new tasks and challenges in a fast-paced environment.
