If you are interested in being part of our team, possess the needed licensure and certifications, and feel that you have most of the qualifications and/or transferable skills for a job opening, we strongly encourage you to apply. This is a 100% Contract position for two years. This appointment may be extended or converted to career status based on the needs of the department. At the UC San Diego Office of the Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (VC-EDI), we believe that true excellence is achieved through productive relationships among people of diverse perspectives. Creativity and innovation prosper when the collective talents of our students, faculty, and staff are joined together in an environment that is open and inclusive. We define greatness by our ability to work together in a climate of shared respect, where diverse perspectives are valued and opportunities for growth and self-reflection exist for all. VC-EDI works in partnership with other Vice Chancellor areas to ensure that students, faculty, and staff find community and self-empowerment, regardless of heritage, orientation, or situation. Central to the purpose of the Office of the VC-EDI is to ensure that our community is one of equal opportunity, where mutual respect and cross-cultural collaboration is fostered and open dialogue is encouraged. It is our mission to initiate programs and provide resources that increase understanding and awareness of social justice, remove barriers for historically underrepresented groups, improve cross-cultural relations, and contribute to a campus climate that is safe and welcoming for all. The VC-EDI, through partnership and collaboration, directs the campus efforts relative to diversity initiatives, which includes the work of the Campus Community Centers, as well as the efforts of two Associate Vice Chancellors for Faculty Diversity and Equity (AVC FDE). The Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) at UC San Diego is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive community while promoting equitable access and opportunities for students with disabilities. In alignment with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and through close collaboration with students, faculty, and staff, we coordinate tailored accommodations to meet each student's unique needs. We are committed to advocating for accessibility, empowering students to self-advocate, and ensuring that students have equal opportunities to thrive in all aspects of campus life. With direct supervision by the Assistant Vice Chancellor for EDI and indirect supervision by the Director of OSD, the incumbent independently develops, plans, implements, and evaluates programming that explores and celebrates disability community identity and culture, with special attention to the intersectional identities of students with disabilities. Incumbent assesses and analyzes the co-curricular needs of the student disability community to develop a comprehensive programmatic response that centers a sense of belonging. The incumbent collaborates with the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) and other offices on campus to effectively deliver programming, increase awareness of disability resources, and foster community to meet the diverse needs of the disability communities at UC San Diego. The incumbent establishes effective relationships to advance belonging and meet the co-curricular and community needs of students who are part of the disability community. This includes campus visits, and events and activities to increase constituent engagement, as well as outreach activities to student organizations, academic departments, and campus groups. The incumbent provides essential assessment and analysis of the overall effectiveness of first time and continuing programming, as well as developing learning outcomes. Develops and monitors programmatic budgets to ensure programs remain within budget and that funds are spent in accordance with University policy. Working with the VC-EDI, the OSD Director, campus constituents, and other relevant partners, the incumbent is also responsible for research on best practices in disability programming and serves as a resource to campus leadership for working with the student disability community beyond accommodations and compliance.
