Position description

The Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology, and Palliative Care at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and seeks Assistant or Associate Project Scientists.

The selected candidates will be responsible for conducting translational research studies related to the role of epigenetics in aging and age-related diseases/conditions being conducted in a translational research epigenetics laboratory. The successful candidates will analyze data, prepare presentations, and prepare/submit manuscripts. In addition, the successful candidates will be expected to provide in-person training and teaching to students and research fellows in the lab. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop their independent research program and will be expected to apply for extramural grant funding to support these efforts.

Appointment will be at the Assistant or Associate Project Scientist level based on background and experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have a PhD, doctoral degree, or equivalent in a biomedical-related field.

Candidates must have a minimum of four years of experience as a Postdoctoral Scholar.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with expertise in human immunology, postmortem tissues, single-cell epigenetic technologies, molecular biology, and DNA methylation studies are preferred.
