An Underwriting Risk Audit Consultant II will:

Execute essential job responsibilities to aid in protecting the integrity of LGA Underwriting, confer favorable influence on LGA mortality experience, and support LGA Actuarial pricing.

Conduct real-time and in-force, activated policy audit examinations of approved applications (both within and exceeding LGA retention), declined, and postponed applications.

Conduct Post Issue APS (PIA) file examination.

Provide quality audit/file examinations to ensure only those mortality risk profiles adhering to Company standards are accepted. Identify inconsistencies in the underwriting process or the criteria used by the underwriters in their risk classification.

Responsibilities
    Identify risks not underwritten in compliance with company standards of underwriting. Report deviations//infractions to VP, Underwriting Audit.
  1. Ascertain that all randomly selected audit cases are reviewed within prescribed service level standards, and with Company standards of underwriting.
  2. Report to VP, Underwriting Audit any findings requiring further review or action by management.
  3. Communicate, as needed, with Underwriting Management where the audit/file examination has uncovered noncompliance with Company standards of underwriting.
  4. Document results of audit/file examinations, identifying specific areas of noncompliance or deficient underwriting.
  5. Perform Post Issue APS (PIA) file reviews for applications issued as per any Underwriting pilot program, or via a digital or straight through processing platform.
  6. Prepare, complete appropriate live rescission recommendations to VP, Underwriting Audit and Legal.
  7. Provide recommendations to Underwriting Audit/Management as to potential weaknesses in underwriting training and deficiencies of individual underwriters.
  8. Provide quality control audit/file reviews to identify deviations to company standards of underwriting which may present adverse impact to mortality and/or to the quality of the product being delivered to the consumer.
  9. Perform ad hoc audits on individual underwriters as requested by Underwriting Management, and/or as directed by the Chief Underwriter or Chief Medical Director
  10. Report to Underwriting Audit/Management any inconsistencies or deficiencies in the risk selection process that are identified during the audit/file examinations.
  11. Complete other assignments/projects as directed.
Qualifications

Education

BS/BA degree preferred or applicable work experience

Industry coursework (FALU, CLU, ChFC, LOMA)

Experience/Knowledge

8-15 years progressive individual life underwriting experience

Proficient knowledge of medical and diagnostic practices and procedures

Proficient knowledge of underwriting guidelines, policy, processes and practices

Proficient knowledge in policy issue processes and practices

Proficient in live rescission reviews, practices and processes

Proficient in applying contemporary underwriting evidence/third-party tools

Proficient in financial underwriting cases <$5 million of coverage amount

Proficient in impaired risk underwriting

Proficient in Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, and Power Point

Proficient in other software programs, such as Smartsheet

Skills

What's in it for you?

The expected hiring compensation range for this position is $121,000-$166,450 annually.

The total compensation package for this position may include other elements, such as a sign-on bonus, long term incentives, and annual bonuses. This role is eligible to participate in the Legal & General America Annual Incentive Plan. The current target payment for the position is 20% of base salary, modified for corporate and individual performance. Bonuses are pro-rated based on start date. This role has 20 vacation days and 10 sick days that are accrued on a bi-weekly basis. Employees also have 9 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
