DESCRIPTION

The Enterprise Network group within ITS designs, implements and manages UC San Diego's networks focusing on wired/wireless data network operations, network architecture, installation and repair, voice and video, outside plant management, and telecom planning. The group includes Data Center Operations, Audio Visual Design and Installation, Digital Signage and Classroom Support which provides services for the UCSD campus, Scripps Institute of Oceanography and medical facilities.

Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional to coordinate AV, instructional technology services and delivery of customer service. Provides consultative advice to clients on technical, media presentation methods, techniques and equipment and intellectual property issues in instructional settings. Analyzes technical, system, service delivery and / or business processes for efficiency and effectiveness. Reports and recommends changes. Perform monthly billing for recharge jobs, troubleshoots classroom and event equipment failures.

Responsibilities:

  • Applies project management concepts in combination with AV IT policies and procedures in determining technical support work flow. Analyzes and interprets intellectual property (IP) policy and law and ensures that media meets IP requirements.

  • Assist the Engineering staff with the coordination and management of subcontractors and other trades such as programmers, electricians, and network technicians on site.

  • Ensure consistent accounting and tracking of project budgets and manage the day-to-day financial matters of all assigned projects. Prepare and submit monthly billing for all audiovisual design and engineering projects.

  • Maintain records and documents of planned, completed, and proposed jobs. Assist in the maintenance of files ensuring all required information is accurate and on file.

  • Interviews and assesses client requirements for instructional technology and advises on appropriate technology to meet specific instructional activities

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds. Thorough customer service and consultative skills to identify and implement required technology solutions.

  • Demonstrated experience estimating project budget utilizing computerized software packages

  • Ability to assess campus or institutional needs for AV IT technology products and design services to meet those needs.

  • Knowledge and skill in trouble shooting, diagnosing and maintaining audiovisual equipment. Audiovisual equipment includes all basic projection equipment including, but not limited to, slide, overhead, and movie projectors; video players and recorders; tape recorders; LCD composite and data projectors; computer panels; video monitors; printers; computer monitors; test equipment; broadcast quality camera; slide-to-video transfer devices; graphics cameras; whiteboards; and Crestron and AMX control panels.

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.

  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in written form with staff, supervisors, students, and customers

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Employee must be available to work evenings and weekends.

  • Employee must be available to travel as required.

  • Required work shift 11am - 7:30pm to provide classroom technology support if needed.
