This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Moores Cancer Center and remote.

DESCRIPTION

The Moores Cancer Center is one of just 57 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the United States and the only one in San Diego County. As a consortium cancer center, it is a collaborative partnership between the UCSD: encompassing 14 departments (12 clinical, 2 basic sciences), 3 professional schools (School of Medicine, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Public Health), UCSD Health oncology hospitals and clinics; the basic and public health research and outreach of San Diego State University, and the basic and translational research of the La Jolla Institute of Immunology. Under supervision, the Research Data Coordinator's primary responsibility is to work in the Moores Cancer Center Office of Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and provide support with Cancer Center data coding, management, curation and analysis. Specific responsibilities include 1) Coordinating and tracking of data ingestion; 2) Obtaining data from various data resources - integrating and formatting large, complex datasets, and maintaining current databases; 3) Working with human resources and EDI offices across institutions to obtain data;4) Coding cancer-related grants, publications, and trainee data for specified, complex metrics; 5) Summarizing and analyzing data sets; 6) Present data to stakeholders; 7) Contribute to design and evaluation of EDI programs; 8) Providing management and curation of data beingfederated. Contribute to diversity, cancer-related, and academic expertise to database formulation, coding, and presentation. Will also be responsible for composing of correspondence and data reports, assistance with manuscripts and reports to funding agencies, uploadingdata to funding agencies, assisting with assessment of data integrity by running validation checks, and cleaning data as needed. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training.

  • Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design and data security measures.

  • Working skills in analysis and consultation.

  • Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated experience in research data collection, curation and quality control.

  • Experience with various database and data collection platforms, data analysis and presentation.

  • Demonstrated experience in library and internet research.

  • Experience with database applications and selection of data using query features. Experience with Microsoft Excel, and statistical programs (e.g., SPSS or R).

  • Statistical analysis experience and/or degree in statistics, or graduate degree in a field that requires use of statistics.

  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to foster a good working relationship with a wide variety of people, using tact, diplomacy, confidentiality and flexibility.

  • Experience handling large amounts of data.

  • Experience with writing manuscripts for academic journals and peer reviewed publications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MPH).

  • Experience with equity, diversity, and inclusion projects - evaluation and presentation of findings

  • Experience with databases, including RedCap and/or Flight Tracker.

  • Theoretical knowledge of oncology and/or biomedical sciences.

  • Experience with cancer-related terminology and research.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
